Death & Taxes was formed in the wake of the successful September 2005
Bruisers reunion by original Bruisers guitarist/songwriter
Jeff Morris and new Bruisers bassist, Mike Savitkas along with scene vet
Steve Toland on drums.
In October of 2005 Death & Taxes started playing shows in Boston and haven't
slowed down since, playing several shows a week
since from Boston to Brooklyn.
Death & Taxes live shows have earned them respect alongside bands like
Darkbuster, Joe Coffee, Three Blue Teardrops, Ducky Boys,
Big Bad Bollocks, Tommy & The Terrors, Rat City Riot, Michael Graves, Far
From Finished, Welch Boys and many more. The band's
musicianship and songwriting carries across typical genre boundaries and
allows them to excel in live performances alongside bands
playing punk rock, roots rock, hardcore and even folk rock. Stints of
acoustic shows in Boston have proven that Death & Taxes is just
as powerful stripped-down, and in fact many fans have stated that the
acoustic shows are even more powerful given the intimacy
and emotional content of the songs performed.
In April of 2007 the band entered famed Outpost Studio in Stoughton,MA and
recorded 10 new original songs with Jim Siegel,
engineer/producer for bands like the Dropkick Murphys, Unseen, Slapshot,
Blood for Blood and many more. This 43 minute disc
shows the power of Death & Taxes songwriting and sound.
Next in line for Death & Taxes will be a Fall 2007 CD release on I SCREAM
RECORDS of Los Angeles and Belgium.
